There are several incidents starting way back in school! I used to be the ring leader for every kind of mischief !This used to prompt my teachers to invariably make me the class reps !The reason----other students shouldn’t get polluted with my ideas of bringing disorder to school discipline! Anyway, my wayward ways in college sobered down a bit but my spirit did not !My fellow students thought I was the best mouthpiece for all their problems and concerns and so they invariably crowned me as their leader by choosing me as their Gen Sec in the college elections.After college when I started working ,I was staying in a working women hostel where again I used to be the unofficial leader to represent the problems of the hostel girls!Since I was a reporter too they considered me ideal to tell me their problems as it used to make way in a national daily!I used to love getting involved with people’s problems as it used to give me lot of good feelings and inspire me to do lot of good work and at the same time give me a high too.One very prominent issue which I took up during my stay was when the old residents of my hostel(All India Women’s conference)were asked to vacate the hostel as according to the hostel management they had overstayed !Though I was a new resident & in no way affected by the orders but still I felt the pain and helplessness of those residents who were not only old but some of them did not have anywhere to go!I along with those residents not only met the local MP----Mrs Babbar but also made sure that the issue was published in all the major newspapers!And yes the crusade worked and the decision was taken back !The entire hostel was witness to this and their appreciation not only made my day but also gave me immense satisfaction!
